Built in 1814 by John Wesley Hunt, one of Lexington’s most prominent citizens of the time and the area’s first millionaire, this Federal-style house is a living museum representing the days when Lexington was known as the “Athens of the West.” The property includes a Civil War Museum featuring artifacts that belonged to Confederate General John Hunt Morgan and a period garden. Weather permitting, a guided tour of the historic Gratz Park neighborhood can be added to the house tour with advance notice. The Hunt-Morgan house is available for special events. Guests for your reception, meeting, luncheon, or dinner party will admire the three-story cantilevered staircase, walled courtyard, fine Kentucky furniture, and early 19th century portraits and procelains. Lexington’s premiere attraction, the Kentucky Horse Park is a showcase of museums, galleries, theatres and exhibits dedicated to all breeds of horse. A variety of facilities can be rented for special events. Carpeted and tastefully decorated, the Club Lounge includes a built in bar and restroom facilities and can accommodate 100 seated guests. Steeplechase Barn, a renovated tobacco barn, can accommodate 450 people and is excellent for casual barbeques and parties. The Indoor Arena can seat 1,200 on permanent seating with an additional 1,800 on portable bleachers.
